ABOUT ME
I grew up on a farm in the Northern Cape of South Africa. Living in a place so secluded taught me how to be very resourceful and a great deal about having a logical mindset. The old farm life does not allow you to live amongst the fairies and the unicorns... Life in the Karoo planted a deep seeded love for nature, and I believe time in nature is the key to happiness and balance in our lives. Being in the water makes me happy and doing the watersports I love makes my life away from my family feel worthwhile. My family is my world, so every time I move onto a new boat, I adopt the crew as my new family.
WHAT I'VE DONE
I started this crazy career called Yachting in 2014 after 8 years of Graphic Designing. I have grown since my junior days into an accomplished sole- and chief stew, leading multiple great crew. I have worked on boats ranging from 87ft to 160ft. I have done various yard periods (overseeing of projects and budgets), worked closely with very hands on owners, lead multiple boatshows, hosted parties with over 100 guests, worked on a private island and enjoyed a multitude of charters with high end guests and facilitated them in having the best time of their lives. I have been fortunate to have been invited back to multiple boats. My journey has taken me from the shores of Florida to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Turkey, Greece and the East Coast of the USA, all the way up to Bar Harbor.
WHAT I DO
Like everyone, I have experienced the ups and downs of this industry, but it has taught me that the highs make up for the lows. I have been fortunate to work in a lot of positions, but my favorite of them all is being a mentor for the the people of today that I was in 2014. I like to work alongside my fellow team mates and lead by example, as this not only creates a healthy respectful relationship, but it keeps me humble as well. I approach my fellow crew as family, and know that at the end of the day we are all just people who gave a lot up to be here. We need to treat each other with respect and dignity. Kindness can go a very long way.
